Team Project July 3

This week for our team project we worked really hard at finishing up our research for our companies. I found some really good information for my companies. We are getting closer to the finish line. We still have a few things to tie together, but after this week we should be looking pretty good.

Team Project for June 26

1) This week we dug deeper into our specific companies and made phone calls and e-mails to companies. I found a lot of new and helpful information.
2) I made a lot of progress this week especially with the alliance that they wanted me to look into and for one of my other companies too. I found some connections that I think they will be interested in.
3) This week I learned that research can be rewarding and fun when you start to find information that will help your client. This next week I hope to be able to wrap up my research and start to finalize our document.

Team Project Report for Sat. June 18

1) Task: This week we focused on digging deeper into our projects. I looked up an alliance that our client wanted me to look into further.
2) Progress Made: We made a little more progress this week. I think our biggest help was meeting with our client last week. We found out that we need to be looking more into what kinds of testing our companies are doing and following any connections they have.
3) Learned: This week I learned that if we would have asked better questions in the first consultation then we would have been more on the track of where we should be. We are not that far off, but it would have been nice to be further along.

Team Project: June 12, 2010

1)Task: This week our task was to complete a report for our second consultation. We presented our rough draft to our client.
2)Progress: I feel that we made a lot of progress this week. This progress mostly came from incites and direction from our client. We have a better understanding of what we are looking for.
3)Learned: I learned that in order to present your client with valuable information you have to understand things about them and their business so that you can understand what would be valuable for them to know.

Saturday's post June 5, 2010- Team Project

1) Actual task completed: This week I researched about 10 companies. I looked for general information such as if they are publicly traded or privately held, the size of the company, their history and background information, and also what kind of company they are manufacturing or research.
2) Progress made: This week our team took the companies that we did background research on and chose 8 companies to do further research on.
3) I learned this week that when doing a competitive analysis you should first make a list of all the companies in that industry and then do a simple background check on them. Then choose a few that you want to go into further detail.

Team Project- May 29,2010

1) Tasks: The first task that we had this week was to compile a list of companies in the this industry. Each of us in our group are now looking into about 11 companies. We are trying to find enough information for us to decide if we should continue looking into those companies.
2) Progress Made: I compiled my first list. We have now separated the lists between each of us. I feel like we have a better direction of where we are going now that we have reorganized some things. I have started to find information for my assigned companies.
3) Lessons Learned: One thing that I have learned is that most of the companies in this industry are owned by other companies or are branch of a bigger company. I have also learned the value of being organized when you are in charge of a group. I realized this last week that it is nice to have your people format and organize things in the same way, but also that they can become frustrated if there are a lot of protocols that are expected of them.
